Balancing Freedom and Connection – Necessary & Possible?
Joining me as co-host for this discussion on balancing freedom and connection will be organizational and relationship consultant Blair Glaser.
Blair Glaser wrote a provocative post Are You Stuck in Freedom that became the inspiration for this chat. Stuck in freedom? Wow. So many people revel in freedom and living out their individual needs and dreams. Yet in truth any extreme, even pleasurable, costs us the loss of what we aren’t embracing.

Balancing Freedom and Connection
Some argue that there is no such thing as total freedom. They assert that we are all inherently connected and balancing freedom and connection is essential to existence. Others disagree. There’s a lot to explore!
Some questions to get us thinking in advance of Sunday’s #Peopleskills Twitter chat:
- What is your definition of freedom?
- Are freedom and connection at odds, needing balance?
- Does the view of freedom and connection vary by culture? How?
- Where have you seen extremes of freedom or connection & what was the outcome?
- What are the effects of freedom on business teams?
- When has freedom been a burden to you? To others?
- If you had to choose between freedom and connection w/ others, which would you pick?
- When do people seek freedom and when do they prefer more connection?
- How & when in your experience do relationships inhibit freedom as you define it?
- What people skills are most valuable in balancing freedom and connection?
These are just some questions to get us thinking. Actual questions will post live during the chat.
